Diagnostic Writing

As a writer, I have certain qualities I'm proud of, and some that I believe could use some further development. My writing tends to be well-composed, considering my vocabulary and grammatical understanding. I have also been given an award for my poetry: I believe this shows I'm very capable of conveying strong emotion through my writing, as well as producing works that people can understand. Something I know I need to practice is writing in a more condensed form, because I often take too much time elaborating on my thoughts, rather than just getting straight to the point (which is very important in professional writing). A skill I'd like to gain from this class is an understanding of how people in various professions have to conduct professional works: the varying styles, how they must cite sources, etc. I'd like to learn how to write in more contexts than I currently am familiar with.
